It’s almost that time! Officially, the TWO MONTHS countdown is here before submitting your ERAS application. These two months are about to fly by; if you’re on an audition rotation, sub-internship, or studying for Step 2CK, NOW is the time to ask doctors for your Letter of Recommendation. Remember that the physicians you are asking are BUSY, they are WORKING, and they have PLENTY of LORs to write. Be patient with them.

On the last week of every rotation throughout the 3rd and 4th year, before moving on to the next rotation/city/state, I would ask the physician IN PERSON to write me a letter of recommendation. They agreed and asked me to send my personal statement and curriculum vitae when it was time.

I have attached the template below that I used to email my attending’s. I also had to send follow-up emails up until the day of ERAS submission.

Conclusion

These next few months or weeks will be busy. ENJOY the process; this is your future, and you have worked hard. No matter what happens, always remember EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON.
